ISC3 research activities aim at mapping innovative solutions' potential & impact

Emerging concepts and hot topics of research in Sustainable Chemistry are monitored with regard to possible future Sustainable Chemistry solutions in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Long term consequences and possible rebound effects of the processes, technologies and specific solutions proposed by researchers are investigated.

At the Research & Education Hub recent and ongoing research examples are studied on the potential of entropy change as a measure of chemical sustainability. Another topic is the need to better understand the consequences of high use of metals as chemical elements being non-renewable, critical resources for low carbon and greener technologies e.g. in the context of renewable energy, mobility, digitalisation and chemical synthesis. Furthermore, research at the ISC3-Research & Education Hub focuses on the evaluation and demonstration of cheminformatics as an important tool for the design of new molecules (“benign by design”) and design of chemical products for a circular economy.
