Sustainable Chemistry in Action in Peru

The International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre (ISC3) participated in Expo SNI Industria 2026 in Lima, Peru, as part of its institutional cooperation with the Sociedad Nacional de Industrias (SNI) and its Chemical Industry Committee. The participation marked an important step in strengthening the collaboration between ISC3 and SNI, creating a joint space to promote dialogue on sustainable chemistry, circular economy and innovation within Peru’s chemical industry. Through a shared stand at the fair, both institutions engaged with companies, industry representatives and other stakeholders on how sustainable chemistry can support more competitive, responsible and future-ready industrial processes.

Expo SNI Industria is positioned as a key platform for industrial connection, technological exchange and business networking in Peru. Its 2026 edition brought together companies, institutions and stakeholders from different industrial sectors, including the chemical industry, to promote innovation, competitiveness and sustainable industrial development.

As part of the programme, ISC3 contributed to the session “Sustainable Chemistry in Action”, presented by Paola Bustillos, ISC3, together with Jacqueline Cruz from Le Qara, a Peruvian start-up from Arequipa. The session explored how chemistry can move from being part of the problem to becoming a driver of sustainable solutions.

The presentation highlighted the importance of rethinking materials, processes and business models across their full life cycle — from design to end-of-life. Through the example of Le Qara, the session showed how science, circularity and entrepreneurship can create new opportunities for a more sustainable and innovative industry in Peru.

Through its participation in Expo SNI Industria 2026, ISC3 reaffirmed its cooperation with SNI and its commitment to supporting the transformation of the chemical industry towards more sustainable solutions.
