Towards an International School for Sustainable Chemistry: First Master Program in Sustainable Chemistry launched at Leuphana University

As a part of ISC3’s educational activities, the ISC3 Research & Education Hub has developed a first of its kind Master of Science in Sustainable Chemistry (M.Sc. SC) for international professionals.

Launching in April 2020 at Leuphana University Professional School, the interdisciplinary program provides expert interdisciplinary training and teaches a broad understanding of sustainable chemistry along the life cycle of chemical products, services and functions – from the molecular level to global resource and product flows.

The programme is aimed at highly motivated professionals with a degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in chemistry, chemical, bio and environmental engineering, pharmacy, biochemistry or related fields and at least one year of relevant work experience who wish to integrate expertise in sustainability into their professional portfolio.

The M.Sc. in Sustainable Chemistry is designed as a blended learning program, combining e-learning with clustered classroom sessions including lectures, seminars, group work and laboratory exercises. This way, professionals may complete the program from wherever they are based, while still having the chance to meet their peers on-site at Leuphana University. The M.Sc. Sustainable Chemistry at Leuphana Professional School is an important milestone for the integration of sustainable chemistry into the higher education of researchers, executives and practitioners.
