How are we organised

The ISC3 is an international organisation implemented by the GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and the German Federal Environment Agency .
The ISC3 is located in Bonn, with approximately 20 highly qualified employees and an international orientation.
The centre consists ofa Research & Education Hub located at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg and an Innovation Hub at DECHEMA in Frankfurt. As a globally acting centre, the ISC3 is committed to helping transform chemistry in cooperation with all stakeholders.

The Advisory Board and the Scientific Board support the ISC3 by providing complementary knowledge and discussing the centre’s working programme. In addition to these three elements of stakeholder engagement the ISC3 invites representatives from all sectors to engage on specific topics by participating in the ISC3 Workstreams.

ISC3 Governance Structure

Advisory Board and Scientific Board

The Advisory Board and the Scientific Board are at the very heart of the ISC3 stakeholder engagement. The boards support the mission of the ISC3 as well as the international dialogue on the emerging concept of Sustainable Chemistry by providing advice, know-how and networking activities. Working in the spirit of international collaboration for sustainable development, the Advisory Board and the Scientific Board are committed to an open, constructive and transparent dialogue, providing the ISC3 with inspiration, critical review and strategic advice.

The members of the Advisory Board and the Scientific Board engage in the dialogue based on their personal and professional experience, providing expert advice on technical, scientific and communication issues as well as advice on the mid-term and long-term goals of the ISC3. They are duly invited to engage in dialogue and promote the mission of the ISC3 emerging concept of Sustainable Chemistry using all appropriate international cooperation platforms and networks.The ISC3 is an international organisation that GIZ set up on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUV) and the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA).
