The Global Chemicals Outlook II is being developed in response to the mandates received through Decision 27-2 of the Governing Council in 2013 and Resolution 2/7 on chemicals and waste of the second session of the United Nations Environment Assembly in 2016.
The mandates requested, among others, to address the 2020 Goal on the sound management of chemicals and hazardous wastes, the Environmental Policy Issues identified by the International Conference on Chemicals Management as well as other issues where emerging evidence indicates a risk to human health and the environment, and provide scientific input and options for actions to reach relevant Sustainable Development Goals and targets up to and beyond 2020. The overarching objective of the workshop is to review the emerging content of the zero draft of the Global Chemicals Outlook II and to elicit inputs from participants relevant for preparing a full draft by early September 2018. The workshop will bring together ca. 90-100 experts from governments, the private sector, civil society and intergovernmental organizations, as well as lead authors and contributors of the Global Chemicals Outlook II, including regional experts.
The Global Chemicals Outlook II
